Elspeth and I met 65 years ago. I remember many happy occasions at Burley Moor, and when we left school Neil took us to dancing classes in the Christmas holidays and our mothers gave a dance for us. It was the fashion then to have satin shoes dyed to go with our dresses and a friend of mine trod on Elspeth's toe in the first dance leaving a muddy mark - I was in trouble! Neil also took us to our first pop concert! Soon after Elspeth married, she and Jimmy took me and a friend to Jimmy’s club. He sang all the songs gazing at her, it was very romantic. I remember an occasion when Ken was to take Nick and John to Arsenal and as the car pulled away Elspeth and I were left standing on the pavement in fits of giggles as a small head appeared looking out of the back window – Matt! These are just some of so many wonderful memories I have with Elspeth through the years and I am so glad Nick was able to bring Elspeth to stay with us in our new house despite having advanced Parkinson's. We had a wonderful evening. I will miss her very much. With love to you all, Sue
