Thinking of your beloved Mum, brings back a flood of memories. In particular, at this time of the year. She would come to us in South Square on Christmas Eve, occasionally for dinner, then we went to Midnight Mass in Saint Jude: a lovely occasion we all greatly enjoyed regardless of our faith or lack of it. Her company was always welcome as she brought about a feeling of relaxation. When Matthew was married, in Samos, Elspeth, Maureen and I spent a lovely and most enjoyable evening together having dinner in a local restaurant, calmly and away from the other guests, reminiscing and yet again appreciating the inner strength of your Mum that pulled through difficult times, raised you three boys admirably, always infectiously relaxed and with a gentle smile.
